"We have been receiving numerous calls on it," police in Danbury, Conn., said in a statement. Upon checking the Internet, the post comes up in several locations across the U.S. The website it comes from allows the user to self populate the article, police said.
The Danbury Police Department has not received any complaints of a missing girl by the name of Kitty Collins.
The link being circulated may lead the user to a website where their personal or financial information could be stolen, police said.
