PORT CHESTER -- After nearly eight months of searching, screening and selecting, the Board of Education of the Port Chester-Rye Brook Union Free School District has appointed Dr. Edward A. Kliszus as the new Superintendent of Schools."[Kliszus] shares our commitment to student achievement and brings a wealth of experience andadministrative skills that will be invaluable as we strive to accomplish even more with fewerresources, said Jim Taylor, president of the board of education.
The decision was made at the board's regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday. Kliszus takes over the duties of interim superintendent Thomas Elliott beginning July 1. The board negotiated a three-year contract with an annual salary set at $217,150 with no increases.
Kliszus comes to Port Chester from the Hackensack School District in New Jersey, where he has served as superintendent since October 2008. His career in public education spans 35 years.
Dr. Kliszus is a great addition to our leadership team, said Taylor.
