Mom Of Westchester Student Talks Son's Allegations Against Teacher

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- When Sandy Nohavicka's son was a freshman at Chappaqua's Horace Greeley High School, she recalled that his drama teacher wanted the students to show up on a wintery Sunday amid heavy snowfall. Reluctantly, she brought her son over, although she called the principal the next day to complain.

The principal, she recalled, had no idea that students were there.

The experience would pale in comparison to a series of allegations that would later come to light against the teacher, Christopher Schraufnagel.

Schraufnagel, who taught at Greeley from 2003 until his resignation last fall, is accused of sexually abusing multiple students and engaging in a series of sordid experiences, which are detailed by clicking here.

In a video interview with Daily Voice, which is attached to this article, Novavicka detailed her son's claims.

While Nohavicka's son is not among those claiming sexual abuse, he shared allegations about Schraufnagel that are similar to what has been disclosed to date. The allegations, according to Nohavicka, are that he would get students to kiss each other, and that he kept a cup of sperm and a doll made of pubic hair in his office.

Nohavicka also said that Schraufnagel convinced her son, who is now entering his junior year at Greeley, of his importance in the theater program.

"He got my son very convinced that he was the invincible star of the show," she said.

Schraufnagel currently faces a criminal case involving abuse allegations against three students. He, along with the Chappaqua Central School District, also face civil litigation from three other students who allege sexual abuse or bullying; an attempt is being made to bring a fourth plaintiff forward.

The school district, in a reply to the civil case, blamed the students for injury, an act that frustrated Nohavicka.

"It's absolutely disgusting," she said, adding that to do so means re-victimizing the students.

The school board has declined to comment on the lawsuit.
