Man Shot in the Leg in Port Chester

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. — A 30-year-old Port Chester man was wounded by a gunshot while sitting on a park bench off Weber Drive on Thursday night, police said.

Port Chester Police Department received a call at 10:22 p.m. of a possible stabbing, but officers found a gunshot victim with a wound on his leg between his knee and his ankle, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center. The wound was not life-threatening, Ladeairous said.

The man first said he was sitting on a park bench when a car pulled up and someone fired two shots at him, police said. Later, the man altered his story by saying he knew the shooter but could not recall his name, police said.

Port Chester police were investigating.
