The lawsuit, filed Jan. 16 in Westchester Supreme and County Court, states that the inn assessed a mandatory 22 percent service charge for catered events and banquets since January 2011 and failed to disclose it to more than 40 affected employees, the report said.
Gere and his then-wife Carey Lowell gave up control of the inn in 2014, two years before finalizing their divorce last year. Gere then partnered with chef Michael White and the Altamarea Group, which now runs the Bedford Post Inn, with Gere still owning the property.
White and partner Ahmass Fakahany owns the Altamarea Group, which is comprised of 15 restaurants, including Nicoletta, Marea and Ai Fiori in New York City and overseas locations that include London, Istanbul and Hong Kong.
"We are delighted to have Ahmass Fakahany and Chef Michael White come to Bedford to take the culinary program at the Bedford Post Inn to new heights," Gere said in a statement when the partnership was announced. "From the beginning, we've been committed to the highest possible quality at the Bedford Post."
