RYE BROOK, N.Y. - Workers from Con Edison and the energy company's sub contractor Bibau Construction have temporarily repaired a gas leak underneath the intersection of Westchester Avenue in North Ridge Street in Rye Brook.
Both north and southbound lanes in the intersection have been shut down as Con Edison worked to fix the problem.
According to foreman Jesse Gonzalez, the crew has been working on and off since Tuesday, and has been on site since approximately 8:00 a.m., Thursday morning. Gonzalez estimated the crew will conclude its work as early as 2:00 p.m. so it would not interfere with school dismissals.
Gonzalez anticipated the traffic delays will continue to at least Monday as a different crew is scheduled to come on Friday to permanently fix the leak. If all goes according to plan, the concrete should be laid on Monday, which would return the intersection to optimal functionality by Tuesday morning.
