WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The body police discovered Saturday in the Hudson River near West Point has been positively identified as 46-year-old missing kayaker Vincent Viafore, according to multiple reports.

Viafore's fiancee, Angelika Graswald, 35, was charged with murdering him while the two, who resided in Poughkeepsie at the time of the incident, were kayaking near Bannerman's Island in mid-April. The charges came on April 30, 11 days after she reported he had capsized in the Hudson River.

State Police responded to a report of a missing kayaker on the Hudson River on Sunday, April 19. At approximately 7:40 p.m.,  Graswald contacted Orange County 911 and reported that she Viafore, were kayaking on the Hudson in between Plum Point and Bannerman’s Island, several miles north of West Point. Graswald reported to 911 that Viafore’s kayak capsized due to choppy waters and she could not locate him in the river.
