7-Eleven Recalls Chicken Sandwiches After White Plains Company's Recall

The Westchester-based Sabra Dipping Company's recall of many of its hummus products due to the potential of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes has led to 7-Eleven recalling its Go Mediterranean Chicken & Hummus sandwiches, according to the FDA.

The sandwiches were manufactured solely for 7-Eleven and are being recalled because Sabra Dipping Company has recalled the ingredient because of potential contamination with Listeria.

Those who purchased the product should not eat it, but instead throw it away in a sealed container or return it to the store where purchased for a refund.

Those who ate the product should watch for Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning flu-like symptoms for the next 70 days, they can include a high fever, stiff neck, headache, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women must be especially careful because this illness can cause stillbirth and miscarriage.

Earlier, Taylor Farms recalled a limited number of products because they contain some of the recalled hummus, it was announced Tuesday.

The recalled products are labeled “Taylor Farms Veggie and Hummus Bistro Boxes” and “Schnucks Vegetable and Hummus Snack Trays.” They contain Sabra Hummus Classic 2 oz. dipping cups and were distributed from Oct.30 to Nov. 18, 2016. For detailed product descriptions, click here.

Sabra voluntarily issued the initial recall Saturday on products that were distributed to U.S. and Canadian retail outlets and have a “Best Before” date through Jan. 23, 2017, the FDA said.

Consumers who are concerned they purchased one of the recalled products can find the date on the lid of each package, and should throw out the potentially contaminated products.

Sabra, which is headquartered in White Plains, identified Listeria monocytogenes at one of its manufacturing facilities, according to the FDA.

Founded in Queens in 1986, Sabra Dipping Company is one of the top sellers of refrigerated dips and spreads and the producer of America's top-selling hummus.
