Each year, for more than a decade, Maisano, a Marine Corps veteran, and his family have teamed with the Westchester Marine Corps League and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve around the holidays to host the Toys for Tots drive in an effort to assist some of the most disenfranchised members of the community.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Dudley’s on Hudson Park Road, the Maisano family will host the popular Toys for Tots fundraising event, where locals are encouraged to drop off new unwrapped toys, gift cards or checks made out to “Toys for Tots.” This year, there will also be a drop boy at TP Toys on North Avenue, where Good Samaritans can drop off toys if they can't make it to the event.
The presents will later be distributed to children throughout Westchester, including the annual, sizable donation to Hope Community Services in New Rochelle. A list of suggested donations was posted on Facebook by Maisano.
“This is my family’s favorite day of the year. It really represents the true meaning of Christmas,” Maisano said during the event last year. “We are only successful because of the support of so many kind people, We will help a lot of kids in need to have a better holiday this year.
"Please help us make the holiday season a little better for kids in need. The toys and gift cards we collect are distributed to kids in the Westchester area this holiday season."
