Vittoria Marino, 83, Port Chester Seamstress

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Vittoria Marino of Port Chester died May 22. She was 83.

Marino was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Scillia Reggio, Calabria, Italy to Giuseppe and Teresa Bellantoni DeFranco. She was raised and educated in Italy. She married Angelo Marino April 16, 1953, in Italy. Marino and her husband emigrated to the United States and settled in Port Chester in 1958.

She worked as a seamstress at the Ruth Taylor Institute in Valhalla and at Kay Chester Dress Company in Port Chester. Marino was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and sewing. She was happiest with her grandchildren and her sisters.

Marino is survived by three daughters; Mattia (Anthony Jr.) Tarantino, of Darien, Conn., Teresa Lionetti, of Stamford, Conn., and Angela Barchella, of Port Chester; six sisters, Flavia Varbaro, Minnie Piria, Josephine Varbaro, Sara Fama, Grace Fulco and Maria Nava; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
