PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Bruce Charlesworth Dein Jr. of Port Chester died March 7. He was 65.
He was born to Bruce C. and Florence C. Dein on July 13, 1946 in Mt. Vernon. Dein grew up in Pelham and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in American Studies from Amherst College and a master's degree in sociology from the University of Chicago. Dein retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2006 after a nearly 40-year career.
A lover of the arts and literature, Dein often visited museums in New York City and Chicago. He had a droll sense of a humor and a keen eye for observation, but was most known by family for his ease of conversation and kindness.
Surviving are his sisters Margaret (Peter) Dein Bradley of Narragansett, R.I. and Eleanor Dein Sharpe of Oak Park, Ill. and his stepbrother Eric Johnson of Dover Plains, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother James L. Dein and his stepmother Anita B. Dein.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Church in Cheshire, Conn. on April 28 at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under Alderson Funeral Homes .
