PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Michael De Vittorio, a 26-year veteran of the Port Chester fire service, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York Firemen’s Home.
The home is a specialized residential health-care facility for retired volunteer firefighters in Hudson, N.Y. De Vittorio recently was elected at the association's 141st Annual Convention in Albany. He will serve a five-year term as a trustee.
De Vittorio has been an active firefighter for 26 years with the Port Chester Fire Department, serving seven years as a captain and most recently being elected second assistant engineer (chief). He also has served his company as secretary for 23 years.
In 1995, he was appointed to the Westchester County Fire Advisory board by then-County Executive Andrew O’Rourke on the recommendation of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, where he served 15 years on the board, including two as chairman. He is a member of the Westchester County Association of Fire Chiefs and a former member of the Westchester County Fire Council.
Founded in 1872, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York represents the interests of the more than 92,000 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel in New York State.
