Carver has its own vegetable garden, whose produce Sacco plans to use in meals for the campers. Campers get breakfast and a hot lunch. Many campers go to camp on scholarship.
The center also has a food pantry, and campers are given bags of institutional-size groceries to bring home to their families.
The Carver Center has been serving Port Chester children and families since 1943. Programs serve a wide range of Port Chester residents, including children, teens, adults and senior citizens.
