On behalf of the Port Chester Cares Community Coalition, we would like to thank everyone who helped make our second Family University a huge success.
It goes without saying that we want to take this space to thank all who contributed their time and energy. Without them, we would have been lost.
To the nearly 60 volunteers, we couldnt have done it without you! You helped to register people, introduce our speakers, steer attendees to the right room, hand out dinners, assist with child care or helped clean up all with a smile.
Thank you to the co-sponsors: Carver Center, the Council of Community Services, Family Services of Westchester, Garden Catering, Greenwich Hospital, The Guidance Center, Hudson Health Plan, Michael Goldstein Esq. LCSW, Adoption and Family Law, Open Door Family Medical Centers, the Port Chester School District, the Port Chester Middle School PTA and the Port Chester High School PTSA. Your contribution to this wonderful event helped so many families gain valuable knowledge that will help them as parents, students and families.
The 350 attendees were able to take part in new and even more topics than last year. Bullying prevention, alcohol and drug trends and coping with social networking were three new and powerful topics covered this year.
Overall, we heard very positive things from Family U attendees as they made their way to or from workshops or dinner. When we all come together and recognize that were all in this together, the It Takes a Village message is truly understood.
We hope to see you at our next Family U event.
Karen Fink and Ellette Hirschorn, co-chairs of the Adolescent Health Task Force
