HARRISON, N.Y. -- A professional dog sitter and local liquor store owner are teaming up to bring attention to laboratory tests on beagles.

A fundraiser is set for Saturday, Feb. 11 from 3 to 8 p.m. at World Wine and Liquor, 132 Halstead Ave. in Harrison to support the Beagle Freedom Project.

There will be live music by Arcadia starting at 5 p.m. and food donated by Costco, DeCicco Family Markets and Trader Joe's.

Prizes will be raffled off, and guests can taste wine, whisky and vodka provided by nine area vendors. The cost is a $5 donation at the door.

The event was organized by Lisa Marie King of Harrison, owner of Whisker Wagon and Camp Whisker Wagon

According to King, the Beagle Freedom Project rescues hundreds of animals every year from laboratories all over the world. The Beagle Freedom Project also is inspiring groundbreaking legislation to stop lab tests on animals while supporting advancements in medicine to eliminate the practice.

Beagles are often used in the tests because of their docile nature. More details about the Beagle Freedom Project can be found by clicking here. Contact information about King's personalized pet care and animal boarding services can be found online here www.campwhiskerwagon.com.
