Clay Art Center offered free clay workshops to the residents of the Purdy Street, Traverse Street and Weber Drive Housing Developments. In partnership with the Port Chester Housing Authority, Clay Art Center invited residents to work with professional teaching artists. During these free workshops adults, teens, seniors and children create unique clay tiles about unity, family and home. The tiles will be installed in a ceramic mosaic beautifying the Purdy Street building in 2015.
“We are thrilled to be working with the community right in our backyard and to have the opportunity to share clay and give Port Chester residents a chance to express themselves creatively,” said Leigh Taylor Mickelson, Clay Art Center executive director. Clay Art Center is at 40 Beech St., Port Chester.
