Broadway Buff, Carriero of Port Chester Dies at 86

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Lifelong Port Chester resident Angelina "Anne" Carriero died Oct. 11 after being diagnosed with leukemia. She was 86.

A Broadway aficionado and former secretary, Carriero was retired from Port Chester's Don Bosco Community Center after working there for 40 years.

The daughter of the late Ralph and Vita Marie Cristiano Gentile, she was born on Oct. 20, 1924. Carriero graduated from Port Chester High School in 1942 and married the late Bruno Carriero on Sep. 20, 1953.

An avid reader and keen follower of the stock market, Carriero had a passion for Broadway, attending over 150 shows with family and friends.

Carriero is survived by her daughters Dr. Lucy Carriero Traverse with husband William of Berlin, Conn. and Gloria D'Ottavio with husband Ralph of Port Chester and her sisters Rose Caccomo and Barbera Tutera of Port Chester. She was predeceased by her husband Bruno on Jul. 24, 2001 and her sister Geraldine.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester. The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
