Good Shepherd Distillery, a new vodka-making enterprise, had its official opening Saturday, April 2 in Mamaroneck. More than 50 people showed up for tastings and a tour which is run by Port Chester couple Vinny Miata and his wife, Carly.
The business, which grew out of Viinny's longtime hobby, is named after his German shepherd, Loki, and is a New York farm distillery, meaning they use New York agriculture for all of their products.
For now, visitors can expect to find barrel-aged brandy and vodka. Down the line Miata hopes to offer cherry brandy, flavored vodkas and whiskeys.
Good Shepherd is at 360 Mt. Pleasant Ave., (914) 341-1068, www.goodshepherddistillery.com/. It is open to the public Saturday's from noon to 4 p.m. for tours and tastings, along with bottles for sale. The distillery will also be available for private events.
