If so, you might want to check out Prima Donna Pet Services in White Plains who are looking to hire three part-time dogs and cat sitters and one full-time "very experienced person" to care for cats, said owner Donna.

According to Donna, the job is a lot of fun, but also hard work that takes someone who really knows how to deal with cats and dogs of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments.

"Just because someone has owned a pet doesn't make them qualified to walk dogs or take care of animals," she said. "We do really well with people who work with rescues or have training."

Donna, who started and runs the Lost Pets of Westchester website, offers a decent pay of $15 to $18 an hour and loves her employees.

Here's what she is looking for:

  • Someone who can work year round as a dog walker in the Plains/Valhalla area and a dedicated cat sitter.
  • Applicants must love animals, be over 21, have a car and smart phone, be available for at least six months, and have experience with pets other than their own.
  • Be trustworthy, have a go-getter attitude and looking for a job where you can grow with the company.

Donna says as a dog walker, your office is the outdoors, and what's better than that? You get to bring an awesome dog with you wherever you go while you're at work. Okay, you do have to clean up poop, and you will probably be a little furry, but for a fair trade of dog kisses, Donna said she thinks it's a good deal.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday with one weekend per month, and additional hours if need, especially around the holiday times and weekends. But the schedule is flexible.
