Turk & Friends also includes Adam Roberts on bass, Deni Bonet (fiddle), Ayodele Maakheru (banjo) and Special guests include Ilana Arazie: vocalist, Gary Schreiner: accordion, chromatic harmonica, Fred Gillen Jr.: vocalist, Jim Keyes: vocalist  and some surprise special guests.

"The residency at Garcia's is a celebration of some of the Bluegrass and acoustic music Jerry Garcia played," Turk said. "With some very talented friends on banjo, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar, dobro and bass, we cover material from "Old & in the Way", "Almost Acoustic", "The Pizza tapes" and more."

Turk & Friends is reprising its Garcia appearance at the Capitol Theater in August.

"It is so much fun," Turk said. "We did it every Tuesday in August and now we are there December 10 and 17."

Arazie, who is married to Turk and the co-creator of the Hastings Flea market that opened in Hastings this fall, has enjoyed a personal music revival with the Friends.

"I was in a band in college and sang a bit here and there after, but really gave it up," Arazie said. "I thought I needed to get a "real" job,  so I never took it seriously and still work on changing that attitude. So, it's kinda karma that I married a musician and slowly and getting myself to sing with him. It's still just a hobby...but I'm glad I have the opportunity again."

The band is also playing holiday music nearby this Saturday at the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow from 4-8 p.m.
