Andy's Pure Foods in Rye Draws Fans From All Over

RYE, N.Y. – Gail Martin may live in Port Chester, renowned for its variety of restaurants, but once in a while she comes to Andy’s Pure Food in Rye for something a little more healthy. “There’s nothing like this in Port Chester,” said Martin. Andy’s Pure Food specializes in salads freshly prepared with organic and raw ingredients, as well as soups, juices and smoothies. “Everything here is so fresh,” said Martin. “It really makes you think about what you put in your body.” Martin recently did a “3-Day Synergy Cleanse” offered by Andy’s for $150. For three days straight Martin woke up and drank coconut water, followed throughout the day by a nutritional concoction called “Green Drink,” electrolyte lemonade, vegan soup, salad and nut milk. “You really feel energized by the third day,” said Martin. Andy’s Pure Food opened in Rye in 2008 and continues to build a following among Rye residents. “People here (in Rye) are conscious about health,” said store manager Onur Ozkoc. “And they don’t mind spending a little money on healthy foods.” Martin is not a vegetarian or a vegan. She said she comes to Andy’s whenever she feels like she hasn’t been eating as well as she should be. “I should really come here more often,” she said.
