The benefit will raise funds for the hospital’s cancer program, which is in the midst of a major renovation and expansion, expected to be complete in 2015.

The golf event begins at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch buffet, followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun play and a dinner reception (including open bar, buffet, silent auction and raffle prizes) at 6 p.m. Individual tickets, which include golf and the dinner reception, are $500; tickets for the dinner reception alone are $150.

The White Plains Hospital cancer program made news last year when it was announced that a new, six-story hospital office building was being constructed adjacent to the Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center. The new building will double the size of the existing cancer program and provide much-needed additional space for patient services, physician offices and other oncology-related amenities. The DCTC building is also in the midst of a major renovation and expansion of its infusion center, which is expected to open this fall.

“It is wonderful to see that the work my mother and stepfather started over 20 years ago is continuing on with the growth and success of the White Plains Hospital cancer program,” said Dennis Gilbert, golf benefit committee member and Scarsdale resident, whose mother, Edie Dickstein, and stepfather, Frank Dickstein, donated funds to build the Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center in 1999. “Now that the hospital has grown so expansively in the number of patients they serve and the varying kinds of cancers they treat, it is important to continue to support the growth of this truly exceptional health care resource right here in our community.”

The golf outing is open to the community, and players of all levels are welcome to attend. For more information on foursome prices or sponsorship opportunities, and to register, call Rebecca Schmidt in the hospital’s development department at 914-681-2478 or email rschmidt1@wphospital.org
