Friday night the theater will host Rock the Blues Summer Jam 2013. The night will kick off with a performance by Dickey Betts and Great Southern. Betts is a guitarist and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. He and Great Southern have toured with the Charlie Daniels Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Weir and Rat Dog, and Phil Lesh and Friends.

The next act will be the Fabulous Thunderbirds, featuring vocalist and harmonica player Kim Wilson, Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar and Randy Bermudes on bass. The band started in the 1970's as a pure blues band, but eventually incorporated more rock, soul and Cajun influences.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will also perform Friday. The New Orleans band translates the works of Marvin Gaye into powerful instrumental pieces that draw on the band's experiences in Hurricane Katrina. The final performer will be singer-songwriter Beverly McClellan. McClellan is a blues and rock singer who reached the final four in the first season of the NBC series "The Voice."

Fans of the popular jam band Phish will be able to see a free webcast of the band perform Saturday night. Garcia's at the Capitol Theatre will broadcast the concert as Phish performs at the Gorge Amphitheater in Quincy, Wash. Last Saturday Garcia's was packed as it hosted a webcast of Phish performing in Chicago. On Aug. 4 there will be a webcast of Phish playing in San Francisco.

The doors will open for Rock the Blues Summer Jam at 6:30 p.m., Friday and the show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets cost between $40 and $85 and are available on the Capitol Theatre's website. Doors for the Phish webcast will open at 5 p.m., Saturday, and the show will start at 10:30 p.m.
