The celebration is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with Santa’s arrival to downtown Port Chester. The tree will be lit at 5:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the marina.
Children of all ages can wait their turn to tell Santa Claus what they want for Christmas. The Port Chester High School Brass Band Ensemble will set the mood with festive music. There also will be free hot chocolate, donuts and gifts for kids.
Santa’s arrival is just the start to festivities in the village. Next week, the Music Department of the Port Chester Public Schools will begin presenting its winter concerts. Here’s the schedule of events:
• Monday: King Street School’s third-, fourth- and fifth- grade glee clubs, as well as the fifth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m. at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave., Rye Brook.
• Dec. 11: Kennedy School’s fourth- and fifth-grade glee clubs, as well as the fifth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m., at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave., Rye Brook.
• Dec. 13: Park Avenue School’s third-, fourth- and fifth-grade glee clubs, as well as the fifth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m., at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave., Rye Brook.
• Dec. 17: Edison School, third-, fourth- and fifth-grade glee clubs, as well as the fifth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m., at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave., Rye Brook.
• Dec. 18: Kennedy School’s third-grade singers will perform at 7 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Magnet School, 40 Olivia St., Port Chester.
• Dec. 19: Port Chester Middle School’s sixth-grade chorus and show choir, seventh- and eighth grade chorus, sixth-grade band, seventh- and eighth-grade band and the jazz band will perform at 7 p.m. at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave., Rye Brook.
• Dec. 20: Port Chester High School’s concert choir, select choir, women's choir, concert band and the jazz band will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Port Chester High School, 1 Tamarack Road, Port Chester.
