Rye Brook Police Will Check Your Child's Safety Seat At Special Event

RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1–12. Since many of these deaths could be prevented by the proper use of car seats, booster seats and seat belts, the Rye Brook Police Department is hosting a child safety- seat check event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Rye Brook Fire House, 940 King St.

Child safety-seat inspectors will be on hand to assist people with the proper installation of child safety seats, will correct improperly installed seats and will check for seats that are broken or recalled.

There is no cost for the event and no registration is necessary. Parents should bring their own child safety- seats to be installed or inspected.
