Do you need a little help with computer basics, such as Google email, Facebook or organizing digital photos? Paula Palermo, a technology consultant, is partnering with the Norwalk Education Foundation to offer classes to the public. These are tools for everyday life, says Palermo, founder of TechSmart Services. The first of five classes begins Monday, Feb. 14.
Palermo, a foundation board member, previously ran its teacher computer-training program. The program has evolved to more curriculum-based technology on using SMARTboards and clickers. The proceeds from the class will fund the foundation's teacher-training programs. This is one way to keep NEFs teacher-training program alive while providing a service to the community. Palermo added that this is a pilot initiative. Classes will be adapted based on participant feedback. Teachers who attend the classes will receive Continuing Education Unit credits. The two-hour workshops include:

Getting Around in Facebook: Feb. 17
Organizing Your Online Life: Feb. 28
Using Picasa to Organize and Manage Your Digital Photos: March 7
Making the Transition to Office 2007: March 15
All workshops are open to the public and run from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost per workshop is $30.
