The exhibition, which runs through May 25, will showcase an eclectic representation of young, midcareer and mature artists, and can be viewed as a sampling of the work of those who live, work and build their careers in the urban environment of New York City.
"NY, NY: CLAY," is the second exhibition in a series of programs that comprise "In Our Backyard," Clay Art Center’s yearlong focus on the integral role clay has on art, architecture and design in New York.
Five exhibits feature artists who are working in the metropolitan area, are using clay as their mode of expression and are making an impact in the field of contemporary art. "In Our Backyard" will also feature lectures, workshops, a symposium and a catalog encapsulating the year’s events.
Clay Art Center is a nationally recognized nonprofit center for the advancement and practice of ceramic arts offering exhibitions, clay classes for adults and children, studio spaces for clay artists and outreach programs in the community.
