Port Chester's Capitol Theatre Throws Jerry Garcia Dance Party

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester presents a Jerry Garcia Dance Party, which started out as a gathering between close friends and fellow Deadheads many years ago and has turned into a tradition and a mission, to bring people together through the love of Jerry Garcia's music.

By playing a hand-picked set list of favorite Jerry Garcia songs, the main goal is to create a special experience for every attendee. The show, which features Grateful Dead lighting designer Candace Brightman, begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Brightman began her career by lighting the Grateful Dead at The Capitol Theatre, a historical venue that hosted artists like Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, Van Morrison, and Pink Floyd. Brightman soon began illuminating the stage at iconic venues like Fillmore East, and lighting arenas for artists like Allman Brothers Band, Ten Years After, and Jethro Tull.

Brightman's history with the Grateful Dead extends to the renowned Europe '72 Tour, and in 2015 she returned to the Grateful Dead spotlight by wowing hundreds of thousands of fans as the lighting designer for the Grateful Dead's 50th anniversary "Fare Thee Well" concerts.

Tickets start at $15 and show is for 21 and over.
