Port Chester, Rye NAACP Holding Know Your Rights Presentation

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – The Port Chester/Rye Branch of the NAACP is holding a special “Know Your Rights” meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Carver Center in Port Chester.

The “Know Your Rights” public meeting will teach participants their rights when dealing with the police. What should you do should you be stopped by the police? Do you know what your rights are when asked questions by an officer? Parents are encouraged to attend and to bring their teens and young adults. A short video will be shown. After panelist presentations, the floor will be open for a Q & A session.

Also attending will be Mark Fang, executive director of the Westchester County Human Rights Commission; John Hodges, Westchester County police chief; Marilyn Henry, special advisor, criminal justice issues; and Richard Conway, chief of the Port Chester police department.

The Carver Center is located at 400 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.
