PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester's American Legion Post 93 will pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces in a number of events and a parade Monday in Port Chester and Rye Brook.
The day will begin with a ceremony at 8:45 a.m. at the Village Marina honoring those who died at sea. The Color Guard and firing team will be present, Taps will be played and flowers will be strewn upon the water.
The Color Guard and firing team will be present at a number of war memorials throughout the morning for short ceremonies. They will be at the William James Memorial in Gateway Park at 9 a.m., at the Vietnam War Memorial in Lyons Park at 9:15 a.m., at the Spanish American War Memorial in Summerfield Park at 9:30 a.m., at the Civil War Monument at the Corner of Post Road and Pearl Street at 9:45 a.m., at Port Chester Post 93 at 10 a.m., at the Port Chester Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. and at the Korean War Memorial in Crawford Park in Rye Brook at 10:45 a.m.
At 11 a.m. there will be a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park at the intersection of North Regent Street and Westchester Avenue. The ceremony will last about 35 minutes, after which there will be a parade down Westchester Avenue.
