Wayne Jones Jr., 23, of Keansburg, Tyrone Bailey, 21 of Asbury Park, and Brittany Smalls, 25, of Neptune Township also were charged with weapons offenses in connection with the Feb. 20 shooting, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said Saturday.

Detectives from various law enforcement agencies identified the trio after the intended victim was shot at from a vehicle on Seabreeze Way near Pinewood Place, Gramiccioni said.

Police found Jones and two other people -- Tiera Young, 24, of Lakewood, and Darrell Ghee, 25, of Asbury Park – with a stolen, loaded 9mm handgun during a traffic stop earlier this week, the prosecutor said.

They charged the trio with receiving stolen property and weapons offenses.

Ghee additionally was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

All five defendants remained held Saturday in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold pending individual detention hearings scheduled for May 18, Grammicioni said.

The prosecutor praised the joint cooperation of members of his Major Crimes, Narcotics and Enterprise units and Keansburg and Red Bank police. Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin Sidley is handling the case.
