PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – It’s a new year at The Capitol Theatre, and this month, you can catch Morrissey, Trey Anastasio, Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! and more at the venue. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming shows:
Tuesday, Jan. 15: Little Feat & Leon Russell The rock band Little Feat and singer-songwriter Leon Russell join forces to play The Capitol Theatre as part of their “What’s Not To Like?” Tour. Little Feat was formed in 1969 by vocalist and guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne. In 2012, the band announced the release of its first new album in nine years, "Rooster Rag." Leon Russell’s rock career spans 50 years. He became a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer in 2011. His current band lineup includes bass player Jack Wessel, who has been in Russell’s band for nearly 30 years. The show was postponed from Nov. 4 due to Hurricane Sandy. All tickets for the original dates will be honored. This event is 18 and over. Tickets are $55 for loge and orchestra, $45 for balcony one and $35 for balcony two. Friday, Jan. 18: Guster with Yellowbirds Alternative pop-rockers Guster have been active since 1995. The band released its most recent album, “Easy Wonderful,” in 2010. Yellowbirds is the moniker for the newest musical exploits of Sam Cohen of Apollo Sunshine. This event is 18 and over. Tickets are $36 for general admission. Saturday, Jan. 19: Morrissey with Kristeen Young English singer and music icon Morrissey rose to prominence as the frontman for The Smiths in the 1980s. He released his most recent solo album in 2009 with “Years of Refusal.” Morrissey will be joined by rocker Kristeen Young. This event is 18 and over. General admission tickets are $49.50. Tuesday, Jan. 22: Dwight Yoakam Country music artist and actor Dwight Yoakam has been active since the early 1980s. Yoakam won a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1993 for the song “Ain’t That Lonely Yet.” He released his most recent studio album, “3 Pears,” in 2012. This event is 18 and over. Tickets are $35 for seated orchestra, $50 for balcony and $70 for loge. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and Thursday, Jan. 24: Trey Anastasio Band After a successful run with the jam band Phish, including a four-night holiday/New Year’s Eve run of sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, Trey Anastasio will perform two back-to-back shows at The Capitol Theatre. These shows were postponed from late October due to Hurricane Sandy. All tickets for the original dates will be honored. This event is 18 and over. Tickets are $39.50. Saturday, Jan. 26: Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo The 1980s rock goddess Pat Benatar will be joined on stage by her husband, professional musician, producer, arranger and songwriter Neil “Spyder” James Giraldo. Up-and-coming country singer Brynn Marie will open for Benatar and Giraldo. Tickets range from $50 to $90. This event is 18 and over. Sunday, Jan. 27: Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! A television family favorite, the characters of Yo Gabba Gabba! will perform two shows in a row for children on Jan. 27 as part of its “Get The Sillies Out” tour. Unless otherwise indicated, doors for all shows open at 6:30 p.m., and music begins at 8 p.m. The Capitol Theatre is at 149 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.
