Police received multiple reports of a rollover crash in New Haven County in the area of 154 Research Parkway in Meriden at about 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Authorities found the driver, identified as Yanilis Santiago, of Middletown, trapped in her 2005 Honda Civic, which had come to a rest on its roof after striking the tree, according to the Meriden Police Department.

Police said Santiago had finished working a shift in Wallingford and was driving north at a high rate of speed on Research Parkway between Pomeroy Avenue and East Main Street when she lost control of the Honda and veered off the right side of the roadway.

Hunters Ambulance and Meriden Fire Department extricated Santiago and brought her to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, authorities said.

Authorities asked witnesses of the crash and those who worked with Santiago before the crash to call the Meriden Police Department at 203-630-6201.
