Yorktown Police Arrest Woman, 48, On Bench Warrant

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 48-year-old woman from Waterbury, Conn., on a bench warrant issued out of Yorktown Justice Court, according to police.

The arrest stemmed from a prior case in which the defendant, identified as Wanda B. Jones, allegedly failed to pay a fine in the court for a suspended registration; as a result, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest, police report.

Jones was transported to the Yorktown Police Department by the Westchester County police, who had Jones in custody on an unrelated matter, on Wednesday, according to officials.

After being transferred, Jones was arrested on the warrant, police report.

After processing, the defendant was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $500 bail, according to officials.

She was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday evening, police report.
