Faster Pitching Is Focus Of Northern Valley Sports Camp In Closter

CLOSTER, N.J. — Increase your pitching speed in January at the 11th Annual Velocity Development Program at Northern Valley Sports Academy in Closter.

The six-week camp begins Jan. 5 and usually sells out. Reservations are required. Camp sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30-9 p.m., and also on Sundays from 9:30-11 a.m.

The camp teaches Biopitch, a combination of rotational strength training, shoulder/elbow conditioning, overload/underload throwing programs and speed and conditioning executed by trainers. The 2015 camp produced 6.27 mph average increases.

Cost is $750 and $100 deposit is required to hold a reservation. The staff includes Biopitch owner and academy director Greg Short; Texas Ranger minor league pitcher Ryan Harvey; N.Y. Mets minor league pitcher Josh Prevost; Cincinnati Reds minor league pitcher Jose Lopez; and others.
