Shots Reportedly Fired at South Norwalk House

NORWALK, Conn. – A group of people fleeing the scene of possible gunfire Monday night said they had been at a party when a passing motorist fired at the house they were in, Norwalk Police Sgt. James Boff said. No one was hurt.

Police found about 10 people running up South Main Street after the 11:54 p.m. report of shots fired, said Boff, who was reading a report filed by an officer on the scene. The officer drew his gun and held it in the low-ready position as the group approached "based on the totality of situation" he had heard about in radio broadcasts. He stopped four male subjects and had them lie on the ground.

One of the subjects told the officer they had been at a house party on South Main Street. A white sedan was speeding up and down the street and passed the house three times without incident. Then it came back, and the witness heard five or six shots fired. He did not see anybody shooting but ran because he was scared. Then police arrived.

There were no victims and no property damage, Boff said.
