Everyone is invited to share the celebration at Lyndhurst from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an un-haunted evening featuring a delicious dinner in the company of several special guests.

Spend the evening with robber baron Jay Gould and socialize with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carnegie. Hear a tale by Washington Irving or help black widow Lydia Locke find the perfect man. The night will be filled with clever surprises and delights.

Dessert will include a presentation by noted author Joe Queenan, who lives in Tarrytown.

The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is the resting place of numerous famous figures, including Washington Irving whose story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is set in the adjacent Old Dutch Burying Ground and has now become the basis for the Fox hit series TV show.

The Historical Society presents the walking tour of all walking tours of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. Their two-hour tour will introduce participants to the unique history of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow and to some of the most intriguing people who have ever lived here.

The guides will lead you through the many sections of the two historic Hudson River villages and regale you with tales both spectral and earthly. Starting from Patriots Park, you will journey past historic sites and buildings while the guides share stories of the individuals who made these places their home.

The tales include historical accounts of real people and events — as well as a few mystical and unexplained incidents from the area’s eerie and legendary past.
