Firefighter Injured Battling Townhouse Blaze In DC (Video)

One firefighter was injured and two people had to be rescued when a fire broke out in the top floor of a three-story townhouse complex in Northwest DC on Thursday afternoon.

First responders were called on Thursday, June 8, to the 3200 block of Jones Court NW, when a fire broke out in the building, leaving behind "hidden fires" according to DC Fire and EMS officials.

Two people had to be rescued from the back of the building and the flames were knocked down before 1:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon before it could spread to any nearby buildings.

One firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a minor injury, though no other injuries were initially reported.

Crews remained at the scene on Thursday to help knock down any hotspots or extinguish any lingering flames.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
